Our Partners
We are working alongside a UK based company called Forest Carbon, to offset the carbon emissions for all of our trips. Forest Carbon offer predominantly nature-based schemes in the UK and internationally. We contribute an annual donation to reflect our usage of carbon from the previous year, which goes towards projects in Indonesia, Peru and Lowther, UK (just a stones throw from our UK offices).
We have partnered with a charity called Robertson Outdoor Bursary to
provide a service where guests can sponsor porters through the Mountain Guide
License award and help them to create a better life for themselves. The Robertson Outdoor Bursary (ROB) are a UK Registered Charity set
up by a Yvonne Robertson in 2013, who provide sponsored places for porters on
the Guide Licence Training Scheme at the College for African Wildlife
Management (CAWM). Each place they sponsor includes: a fully paid 3 week
programme, camping equipment and space to pitch tent on college grounds for the
duration of programme, any technical equipment necessary to complete the
programme.
In the Amazon, we partner with the Tambopata Ecolodge. They are officially certified by the Peruvian government to provide continued conservation in the Tambopata Private Conservation Area, the largest protected natural area in its category in Peru. The Ecolodge provide environmentally friendly accommodation and up close encounters with the wildlife that has flourished in the area since the protected boundary has been implemented. Our Amazon 3-day / 4-day extensions are run from the Ecolodge and offer incredible opportunities for wildlife viewing.
Travel Life
We work with Travel Life to calculate the carbon emissions produced by our trips. We use their calculator as it has been created for the travel industry and has specific calculations for 25 transport modes, 500 thousand accommodations, 35 million flights and 21 specific activities. This allows us to calculate much more accurate KGs of eC02 for our trips.
Our Projects
'Wild Kandoo' is an initiative that has been set up in 2024 to help to re-wild the areas that we visit. We have begun by supporting Tandin and our team in Bhutan to re-wild a plot of land on the outskirts of Paro and create a Kandoo forest. The Bhutanese government really encourage environmental projects and are happy to invest in schemes to promote green actions within the country. Alongside this, $10 from each participant who visits Bhutan will go towards the Kandoo forest project, to buy trees, planting equipment and protection for saplings.
