When to go? Seasons, climate, festivities

  • December to February

    One of two dry seasons in Uganda, December to February still sees some rainfall, particularly in the rainforests, but this is vastly reduced from the rainy season that precedes. Expect, misty, warm days with some showers, mostly during the afternoons. This is the hottest time to visit Uganda and temperatures usually sit between 20-35℃.

  • March to May

    The wettest of the two rainy seasons in Uganda, March to May brings torrential showers between sunny spells, particularly during April in the Western regions of the country, the rainfall can cause localised flooding. This can make travel difficult and means the country sees little footfall during this period. Temperatures cool off a little with the rains and will generally be anywhere between 16℃ in the mornings to 28℃ as the afternoon progresses.

  • June to August

    June to August is the most popular time to visit Uganda, with comfortable temperatures and stable weather systems, this is the perfect time to explore everything the country has to offer! Expect similar temperatures of anywhere between 16℃ and 28℃, cooler in the higher regions of the Rwenzori mountains.

  • September to November

    The second rainy season is comparable in climate and temperature to the first, but sees slightly less rain. This is a good time to visit Murchison falls as it is warmer in the North and the water levels will be high making the falls very impressive. On the whole though, this isn't a great time to visit Uganda.
