When to go? Seasons, climate, festivities
-
March to May
Spring is a good time for trekking in the Canaries, with temperatures between 16°C and 22°C and the chance of a little refreshing rain. The higher temperatures of the summer months have not yet arrived and there is few tourists at this time. -
June to August
In the summer you can expect beautiful warm weather between 21°C and 29°C but the islands will be busy, especially in the coastal areas. The mountainous regions may experience some rain at higher altitudes. This is a good time to visit but make sure you book your accommodation early and bring sun sun cream. -
September to November
In Autumn the weather starts to cool down but only a little. The daytime temperature could still reach 27°C in October. At this time of year the night times are much cooler and there is also a greater risk of rain, especially in the mountains. -
December to February
In the winter moths the islands are still warm by UK standards, around 16°C to 20°C. However there is much more rain which makes this season less suitable for hiking. Night times in winter can be much colder and it is not unusual for Mt Teide to be covered in snow and ice.
